Let me tell you a story.
So I used to live with a guy who had two kids from a previous marriage (no, we weren’t together). One evening I was swimming in the pool and dinner was ready. He told his daughter, who was 4 at the time, to come and get me. So as I was swanning about in the pool I hear a little girl’s voice yell at the top of her lungs from the back door – ‘Miss Cal-ee-foooor-nee-yaa! Coooome and haaave youurrr din-nerrrrrr!’ . This might not seem strange to you but my last name does indeed sound like ‘california’ and everyone found this absolutely, belly-rolling hilarious and so it stuck. I’ve been California ever since. Kids say the darnedest things.
And Red? Well, because my car is red.
And thus, RedCalifornia was born.
I’m a 30-something Sydney girl who’s lived in 4 countries, travelled to every (non-ice covered) continent, been married and divorced, won a snowboarding gold medal (true!), recently learned to dive, obsessed with karaoke, and detests vegemite. This whole blog shamozzle initially started as a way to document my travels in South America but has ended up becoming a bit of an all-sorts/mixed nuts/rocky road/neopolitan ice cream variety bag of things that I like to write about – bit of travel, boys, relationships, friends, boys, photography, life, boys, family etc etc. And boys.
So that’s me and this is my vestibule area. Thanks for stopping by.
